Last week I delivered a workshop Mindfulness and Personal Leadership at the MBA of the Rotterdam School of Management and one of the questions from the students was ‘How to do it, how to be present?’.

While there is not a quick fix and training is required, your five senses (taste, sight, touch, smell, and sound) and a curious attitude can help you.

Taste a gummi bear for example:
– If you taste it, just taste it.
– Do nothing else than tasting and be curious of what you taste. Let thoughts, memories or plans pass by. Focus only on the tasting.
– Even if you have tasted it a millions time and you think you know what you are going to expect, just explore what you really taste in that moment.

Be curious, taste and it might surprise you!
